Classic Chinese shaped brass censor with the reign mark of Ming emperor, Xuande. The looped handle, and lobed shape harkens back into Chinese antiquity.Heavy brass flattened globular bodied censor that has a strong essence of brass. The censor body has outward projecting six faceted lobes. Lobes alternate between ones with a ridge on the face and ones with a simple flat face. On the mouth are two looped handles The mouth has a convex everted rim, with a simple tooled scroll design under the lip. The censor is supported by three feet. The finish is smooth and feels soft. The censor has taken on a darker patina from age. The inner surface has a rough gold-like finish.A six Chinese character reign mark of the Ming Xuande emperor is molded within a recessed square on the bottom of the censor.
