Description: A.D.618-907, T'ang Dynasty, China. The full body figure of a standing horse with saddle, posed with raised right leg exhibiting traces of original pigment. Now mounted on a custom display stand on pedestal. According to Ching Tsai Loo, in a letter to Miss Eliza Miller, he acquired this specimen after it's discovery at a dig site near Loyan, Honan Province around 1936-37. A copy of this letter dated 1945 accompanies this lot. Reattachment of left foreleg and other minor repairs, overall very good.
