He has loved painting since he was a child. In 1941, he held a “ten-year-old boy Liu Xiaosu Painting Exhibition“ in Wenzhou. After 1949, he painted in Shanghai Great China Books Bureau, Shanghai Education Publishing House, and Shanghai People's Fine Arts Publishing House. Since 1985, he has been a professor at Shanghai Normal University. Good at Chinese classical figure painting. The stamp “Dream of Red Mansions“ has won the National Best Stamp Award in 1981. In 1985, he was honored with the “China Sports Art Exhibition“ by the Chinese Olympic Committee. His works include “Liu Danzhai Liao Zhai's Hundred Pictures“ and “Stones and Figures“.
