Massachusetts, Maine,1859-1936 Impressionist work depicting a young brunette woman in a white and pink gown leaning on a chair and gazing into a cheval mirror. The interior is illuminated by rays of sunshine filtered through the curtains in the background. As a Boston School artist Graves was taught in a realist fashion but grew to accept and utilize impressionism in his career. Dimensions Board 29 1/2" x 23 1/2",Frame 34 1/4" x 28 1/4" Artist or Maker Abbott Fuller Graves Medium Oil on canvas board Condition Report Light scattered areas of craquelure, minor spot areas of paint loss, small 5/8" tear lower-middle right on bed, otherwise presents well in original condition, estate fresh. Please refer to photographs. Provenance Fresh from a Boston area, Massachusetts estate, passed through descent within the family, always together as a pair with the other Graves painting in the sale. Notes Signed "Abbott Graves" in lower right corner, surface wear and paint loss to signature area.
