A Chinese white jade brush rest dating from the Ming dynasty. The brush rest features a carving of 2 cranes. Dimensions are: 2 inches tall X 4 1/2 inches wide, 5.1 cm tall X 11.4 cm wide. All measurements are approximate. Condition: There are 2 small areas of loss to the carving's feathers. Provenance: From Mrs. Fullerton in New Jersey. Her father, Maurice Etangs, was chief of police in Tianjin, China and lived there from 1935 to 1945. These items were collected during that time.
