A Longquan celadon glazed table screen on rectangular form, the central panel carved to one side with the figure of Kui Xing - God of Literature in characteristic dynamic pose with one foot raised and holding a brush aloft, the reverse with the god running above cloud formations, all enclosed within a pierced border set to either side with spandreled upright supports atop a slightly flared, arched base, covered overall with a sea-green glaze. Provenance: Descendants of Poul Laursen (1910–1983), who was director of the Great Nordic Telegraph Company and stationed in Shanghai from 1947–1951 with his wife Trine Laursen.
