Unsigned Japan, early 19th century, Edo period (1615-1868)
Carved as a young boy standing and wearing a finely incised robe pulled up over his head, his arms raised and hidden in his sleeves, pretending to be a scarecrow, the face with a charming expression showing a joyful smile. Chimney himotoshi under the robe and to the back.
